The Pope John Paul II Lady Jaguars basketball team dropped their district opener Tuesday falling to Mt. Hermon 40-29. The Lady Jaguars got off to another slow start trailing 1-4 after the first quarter. PJP II’s Jessica Feraci, who led the team with 13 points, connected on two 3-pointers entering the half behind 36-14. The Lady Jags played good defense to get back into the contest cutting the lead to eight points late in the third period, but ran out of gas according to head coach Daryl Thomas. PJP’s Farrah Flattmann added 11 points for the Lady Jags. The Lady Jaguars are playing without their leading scorer senior Allison Hartmann, who is out with a concussion. Hartmann was averaging 20 points a game before going out with her injury.
