The Fontainebleau Lady Bulldogs made a ferocious fourth quarter comeback Friday night trimming the Covington Lady Lions 45-42 at The Kennel in a key District 6-5A encounter. Fontaienbleau (18-5) improved to 4-1 in district overcoming a 13-point deficit with less than five minutes to play. The Lady Bulldogs ended the game on a 14-0 run to secure the victory sparked by Jaclyn Scholvin, who finished with 19 points, nine steals and six rebounds. Scholvin, a five-foot-seven inch senior guard, a Southeastern Louisiana University commitment, was named the New Orleans Advocate’s Girl’s Basketball Player of the Week for her clutch performance in the three-point victory over the then No. 7 ranked Covington Lady Lions. Scholvin, a member of the Lady Bulldogs’ 1,000-point scoring club, is averaging 18.1 points per game this season. Fontainebleau first-year head coach Mark Beason said,” She basically leads us in everything.”
Covington’s CoCo McDowell led the Lady Lions with 19 points against Fontainebleau. Covington (15-5) stands at 4-2 in District 6-5A play.
