Northlake Christian School’s Wolverines battled the Newman Greenies to a 2-2 non-district draw yesterday in a match played at Newman. NCS’ Nathan Pearl and Richard Humphrey netted the Wolverines’ goals. Josh Landry was credited with assists on both NCS goals as they battled back from a 1-0 halftime deficit. Humphrey was named the Wolverines’ top defender. NCS (14-1-7), the district champs and currently ranked No. 1 in the Louisiana High School Soccer Coaches Association poll and No. 2 in the unofficial state power rankings, returns to action Thursday traveling to Pine for their final district encounter. The Wolverines, coached by Nick Chetta, will also play Menard, Bolton and Holy Cross to close out the regular season before heading into the upcoming playoffs. The Wolverines are the Division III state runner up.
