Local Soccer Winds Up, It Is Playoff Time!
Local St. Tammany Parish soccer teams are winding down their regular seasons as they await the findings of the LHSAA to see where they land in the playoff picture or in some cases whether they actually make it or not. In girls’ action last night, the Mandeville Lady Skippers were on point blanking No. 2 St. Thomas More 3-0 moving to an impressive 25-5 on the season. Mandeville’s Mia Dubroc, Isabel Barrios and Mackenzie Manuel netted the Lady Skippers’ goals. Mandeville coach Sean Esker said Jordyn Pellegrin was solid in net for the Lady Skippers and Danielle Tyler was named the Lady Skippers’ top defender. In Friday’s district finale, the MHS Lady Skippers rolled past Ponchatoula 10-1 on Senior Night with Mackenzie Manuel netting four goals. Goalies Jordyn Pellegrin and Emily Rone shared in net for Mandeville. The senior trio of Kayla Seals, Rachel Scallan and Kimberly Boudreaux led the Mandeville defensive effort.
In boys’ action Friday, the Mandeville Skippers cruised past the Ponchatoula Green Wave 8-1 spreading the scoring between their top two scorers with Devin Pathoumthong and Jack Babineaux leading the way with two goals each. Pathoumthong tops the Skippers with 28 goals followed by Babineaux’s 19 tallies. Mandeville (17-2-3) finished second in district with a 5-1-1 mark behind unbeaten district champ St. Paul’s Wolves. Mandeville is ranked third in the LHSAA power rankings and is ranked fourth in the Louisiana High School Soccer Coaches Association.
