In local basketball action, the Mandeville Skippers and St. Paul’s Wolves, who finished in a tie for the District 6-5A standings at 12-2, squared off Friday in a one-game playoff to determine seeding in the LHSAA boys’ playoff brackets, which are due out later today. Mandeville hosted Friday night’s playoff seeding game securing a 59-51 victory spearheaded by Ethan Turner’s game-high 20 points. Turned netted 17 first half points including five 3-pointers to help spark the Skippers. Eric Degelos added 17 points for the Skippers. St. Paul’s Timothy Bedford topped the Wolves with 16 points followed by Harrison Prieto, who posted a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Parker Edwards also chipped in with 11 points for the Wolves. Mandeville and St. Paul’s split their two district meetings during the regular season, and both enter the playoffs at 22-9 overall.
