Mandeville Skippers Track on NS Sports
Northshore Sports airs this Thursday night from 7-8, originating from our title sponsor Mellow Mushroom on Highway 190 in Covington. I’ll be attending the Division III state soccer playoffs with Pope John Paul II’s Lady Jaguars and Northlake Christian School’s Wolverines, who are vying for state crowns at Tad Gormley Stadium Thursday. Our morning show host, Charles Dowdy, has graciously agreed to host the show this Thursday. The Lake’s featured guests will include members of the Mandeville Lady Skippers and Skippers track team coached by Gerald Singer. Northshore Sports airs this Thursday from 7-8 so join Charles Dowdy as he welcomes Mandeville track to the program.
Mandeville competed at the LHSAA State Indoor Track Meet held Saturday at LSU. The Lady Skippers finished fourth with 35 points. Mandeville junior Chelsey Jones won the 800 meter event with a time of 2:15.21establishing a new composite state meet record. Jones won the event by more than six seconds setting the record. Jones is also the defending Class 5A champion in the 800 meters outdoors, winning that title last spring in a time of 2:12.04. Jones, the daughter of Charles and Zondra Jones of Mandeville, is recognized in today’s edition of the New Orleans Advocate’s In The Spotlight for her outstanding performance at the LHSAA State Indoor Track Meet.
