In local District 6-5A softball action yesterday, the Ponchatoula Lady Green Wave pulled off a 4-1 home victory over the Fontainebleau Lady Bulldogs. Ponchatoula (6-7) moved to 3-2 in the district race, while Fontainebleau (8-2) stands at 2-1. Raylea Willoughby picked up the victory as the Lady Green Wave pushed across three runs in the first inning and added an insurance run in the second. Fontainebleau, which took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, was limited to just four hits. Savannah Folse (7-2) took the loss. Fontainebleau travels to Northshore this afternoon for a key battle with the Lady Panthers getting underway at 3:30.
Northshore turned back Hammond’s Lady Tornadoes 8-4 yesterday sparked by Kat Cognevich and Zari Johnson, who both collected two hits with two runs batted in spearheading the Lady Panthers’ victory. Mallory Subervielle also went 2-for-3 in the Northshore victory. The Lady Panthers (9-2) moved to 3-1 in District 6-5A.
