St. Scholastica Academy blanked De La Salle High 10-0 yesterday with Lindsey Berns and Madison Smith combining on a five-inning no-hitter. Berns picked up the victory tossing the first four innings, registering three strikeouts. Berns also drove home three runs. Smith pitched the final inning surrendering one walk. Smith also drove in a run for SSA and scored twice. Jordan Bass went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in and also scored twice. Holly Huhn contributed a double with two runs batted in and scored, while Hallie Fisher and Savannah Frieman also drove in a run for the Doves.
District 6-5A softball is heating up. Northshore’s Lady Panthers picked up a key home victory slipping past the Fontainebleau Lady Bulldogs 5-3 despite picking up just three hits. Northshore (10-2) improved to 4-1 in district play, while Fontainebleau 8-3 stands at 2-2. The Lady Panthers benefited from three costly Fontainebleau errors led at the plate by Kat Cognevich, who went 2-for-2 with an RBI and scored twice. Mallory Suberveille added a hit for the Lady Panthers and also tallied twice. Northshore’s Missy Clark moved to 9-2, going the distance, scattering seven hits posting seven strikeouts with only one walk.
Fontainebleau’s Savannah Folse got things started early for the visiting Lady Bulldogs ripping a first inning solo homer to right center field. Folse (7-3) pitched a complete-game three-hitter taking the loss. Folse gave up the five runs, however only one run was earned due to the Lady Dawgs’ errors. Folse struck out five with a walk.
