Thanks to members of the Pope John Paul II Jaguars Powerlifting teams and their coaches Wayne Frederickson and Franklin Thomas who appeared on Northshore Sports last night originating from our title sponsor Mellow Mushroom. Coach Frederickson, who some of his powerlifters refer to as a “Bid Teddy Bear,” was sporting some really nice looking jewelry in the form of five large state championship rings, which obviously he is extremely proud of. Coach Wayne, a former LSU football player, is a giant of a man, standing 6-foot-5 and as he said well over 300 pounds. Thanks to his wife Karen, who also showed up to suporrt the Jaguars. The PJP II Lady Jaguars won their seventh consecutive powerlifting state title last Saturday as PJP II hosted the LHSAA Class 2A meet. Congrats to all the PJP II powerlifters, who appeared on last night’s Northshore Sports, representing their school in a truly excellent manner. I was very impressed with their poise and great enthusiasm. Connor Maples, who competed in the 165-pound category, earning a second place finish at state, proved to be a very confident young man. Connor actually asked during a break if he could get back on the air a second time. I would have been willing, but unfortunately we didn’t have enough time. Connor is also a football player for the Jags so maybe I’ll give him another opportunity during the football season. One of his favorite things is eating chicken, which he said is always available in the Jaguars’ cafeteria. Well done PJP II Jaguars powerlifters. Mr. Mike gives you an ‘A’ for your performance on Northshore Sports!
