The Fontainebleau Lady Bulldogs softball team took a big step trimming the Northshore Lady Panthers 3-1 at The Bone Yard in a key District 6-5A contest to grab first place behind a solid, complete-game from Savannah Folse. Fontainebleau (13-5) improved to 6-2 in the district race, while Northshore (11-6) slipped to 5-3. Folse tossed a six-hitter, upping her record to 11-3, recording 10 strikeouts with two walks. Northshore’s Missy Clark (10-3) turned in a strong effort as well, giving up three unearned runs, scattering eight hits with three strikeouts and two walks.
Lady Dawgs’ catcher Alivia Soto, Folse’s battery mate, did a good job behind the plate and hitting, going 2-for-3. FHS’ Brenae Bergeron collected two hits and drove in a run, while Gabby Albi also added two hits.
Northshore’s Jessica Dicharia belted a solo homer in the second-inning to account for the Lady Panthers’ lone run against Folse. Angie Guiterrez delivered a 3-for-3 performance for Northshore.
Northshore hosts Chapelle in non-district action this afternoon at 4:15, while Fontainebleau returns to district action tomorrow traveling to the Covington Lady Lions and then hosts the Ponchatoula Lady Green Wave next Tuesday in another crucial District 6-5A contest. Covington turned back Ponchatoula yesterday.
