The first place Fontainebleau Lady Bulldogs came up short yesterday being blanked by second-place Pontchatoula 5-0 at home. Ponchatoula (13-8) moved to 8-3 sparked by Allie Amerson, who homered and drove home three runs, while scoring twice for the Lady Green Wave. Ponchatoula’s victory moves the Lady Green Wave into a first place tie with the Lady Bulldogs. Ponchatoula pushed across two runs in the top of the first before adding three insurance runs in their final at bat. Ponchatoula’s Raylea Willoughby notched the victory going five scoreless innings with relief help from Amerson as they combined on a seven-hitter.
Fontainebleau (14-6) now 8-3 in district play was led by Haley Fremin and Savannah Folse, who both picked up three hits each. Folse (12-4) went the distance, giving up three earned runs on eight hits.
Fontainebleau travels to Slidell tomorrow to tangle with the Lady Tigers with the District 8-2A title on the line. Ponchatoula travels to Loranger for a non-district contest. Ponchatoula closes out district play Saturday traveling to Hammond to take on the Lady Tornadoes in the hunt for the district crown.
The Northshore Lady Panthers host Slidell Saturday morning at 11 o’clock in the closely contested District 8-2A.
