Southeastern Louisiana University’s baseball team earned a 5-3 road victory over the Louisiana Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns Tuesday sparked by catcher Chris Eades’ two-run homer in the third inning. Eades, a former member of the Northshore Panthers’ 2009 Class 5A state championship team and graduate of Delgado Community College, ripped his second homer of the season after Kennon Menard reached being hit by a pitch. The Lions (27-11) snapped UL-Lafayette’s six-game winning streak as the Ragin’ Cajuns slipped to 21-14. UL-Lafayette pushed across single runs in the fourth, sixth and seventh innings to take a 3-2 advantage to erase the lead earned on Eades’ round tripper. Southeastern plated three runs in the top of the eighth with Brett Hoffman delivering a key two-run single to spark the Lions’ victory. Southeastern’s Jacob Seward connected for two hits extending his hitting streak to 15 games and his reached-base streak to 26 games. Southeastern (11-4) in Southland Conference play hosts McNeese State in a three-game series at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field in Hammond. Friday’s series opener is set for 6 o’clock.
