New Coach at Hannan
Archbishop Hannan principal, Father Charles Latour, has announced that Scott Wattigny has been selected to replace Pat Lambert taking over the coaching reigns for the Hawks’ football team. Coach Wattigny, from New Orleans, a Holy Cross alumnus, most recently served as the offensive and defensive line coach for the Vermillion Catholic High Eagles, who captured the Class A Division IV state title, posting a 14-0 record. Prior to his time at Vermillion Catholic, Wattigny served as assistant football coach/co-defensive coordinator and head strength and conditioning coach at Brother Martin with the Crusaders. Father Latour said, “I am very pleased and excited to welcome coach Wattigny and his wife Katie to the Archbishop Hannan family . We wanted a coach with an extreme knowledge of the game, a mentor to both students and his staff, was rooted in faith, possessed a strong moral character and integrity and who could bring out the best in in students on and off the field,” said Latour.
Archbishop Hannan athletic director Joe Hines said, “Coach Wattigny brings an enormous amount of energy, desire and youthful enthusiasm to our football program. He also brings a great deal of tactical and practical experience both as a player and coach,” said Hines. Hines added, “Coach Wattigny models our commitment to developing exceptional scholar athletes and I know our players, alumni and parents will recognize and appreciate his depth of knowledge, leadership skills, character and ability to lead and form young men.”
