The softball season was concluded in Sulphur over the weekend so congratulations to all the team’s that punched their ticket to compete for state championships. Time now to take a look at the All-District 8-4A teams. In District 8-4A the Lakeshore Lady Titans and the St. Scholastica Academy Doves shared the district crown. Lakeshore coach Nick McIntosh and SSA’s Charles Richard shared the Coach of the Year award. SSA seniors Lindsey Berns and Holly Huhn were selected as co-MVP’s representing the Doves.
The Lady Titans dominated the All-District First Team for District 8-4A with seven selections including junior outfielder Nicole Ferrara and sophomore Paige Hulin. Sophomore infielder Samantha Conley and freshman Kaitlyn Dalferes were named first team infielders. Lakeshore sophomore catcher Katie Gunther made first team, while freshman pitcher Tracy Mashaw garnered first team honors along with sophomore Emma Autin, who was named a utility player. The co-champion SSA Doves had three players named to the first team, joining Berns and Hulin on the first team was junior Sam Zelden, who was named as a utility player. The Pearl River Lady Rebels garnered three first team selections including senior infielder Brittney Alvarez, senior outfielder Alyssa Ross and junior utility player Abby Mayfield. The Franklinton Lady Demons had three first team players including senior catcher Laken Spears, senior infielder Haley Sanford and senior outfielder Baylee Mixon. Salmen Lady Spartans senior infielder Carly Arthur rounded out the first team.
Congratulations to all the players who were recognized by District 8-4A. A job well done.
