Lions Lose to Jags
Southeastern’s Lions traveled to the Southern Jaguars last night and suffered a 5-1 loss in non-conference action. Southern’s senior right-hander Santos Saldivar stifled the Lions’ hitters as he went the distance, tossing a complete-game six-hitter, throwing 142 pitches.
Saldivar (4-6) kept the Lions’ hitters off balance, registering 13 strikeouts with just one walk in a masterful pitching performance. Southeastern’s Brett Hoffman delivered a 3-for-4 plate performance, knocked in the Lions’ lone run and stole a base.
Southeastern (36-14) 20-4 in the Southland in first place returns to conference play Friday hosting the Central Arkansas Bears in the opener of a three-game series at Alumni Field in Hammond. First pitch is set for 6 o’clock. The Lions have recorded an impressive 22-4 record at home this season.
