SLU Rebounds for Win In Southland Tourney
Southeastern’s top seeded Lions rebounded from their Southland Conference tourney opening loss Wednesday in dramatic fashion turning back McNeese State 3-2 in 12 innings Thursday eliminating the Cowboys. Daniel Midyett drew a walk to lead off the 12th frame and advanced to third on Kevin Carr’s single setting the stage for Kyle Cedatol, who lofted a game-winning sacrifice fly as Midyett made an excellent slide around the backside of the plate to avoid the tag, providing the game-winner. The Lions posted 12 hits sparked by Carr (4-for-6) and Carson Crites (3-for-4). Southeastern coach Matt Riser said, “We have a chance to get on a roll, but we can only worry about tomorrow. All we know is we’re playing tomorrow at noon and we just have to take it one game at a time,” added Riser.
Southeastern (42-16) takes on No. 8 seed Texas A&M-Corpus Christi today at noon, hoping to avenge the Lions 4-2 setback to them in their tournament opener Wednesday in game 3 of the Southland Conference tourney.
