Franco’s Athletic Club in Mandeville will host a Blood Drive on Saturday, August 29th from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm to benefit local 2-year-old cancer patient Zeblin Owen Pearson. Zeblin is the son of Brent, a Lacombe firefighter, and Cara, a former school bus driver who has had to leave her job to care for Zeblin and his three-year-old sister since he was diagnosed with T-Cell Leukemia last October. Zeblin is receiving chemotherapy at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans. With treatments expected to last 2 to 5 years, he will need many blood transfusions.
For updates on Zeblin’s progress, visit his Facebook page – Prayers for Zeblin Owen Pearson. To sign up for the blood drive at Franco’s, contact Mindy Cordell 985-237-2266. All blood donations received at the blood drive will help with Zeblin’s medical costs.
Children’s Hospital is currently treating 1,100 patients battling various stages of cancer. Annually, 13,500 blood components are needed for these children. The Blood Center is the hospital’s blood provider.
