Sheriff’s office obtains arrest warrants in apartment-complex arson case
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Jack Strain today announced that arrest warrants have been obtained in connection with the fire last week that destroyed the Act X apartment complex near Slidell.
Sheriff’s office detectives, working in conjunction with fire investigators from St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1, the State Fire Marshal’s office and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives, have determined that the blaze was purposefully set and have identified the suspected arsonist.
Warrants have been issued for the arrest of David Rutledge (4504 Pontchartrain Dr Apt 103, Slidell – DOB: 4/3/1957) for the following offenses:
One count of L.R.S. 14:51 – aggravated arson
Ten counts of L.R.S. 14:(27)30 – attempted first degree murder
Additional warrants/counts are expected to be issued in the near future.
Rutledge’s whereabouts are unknown at this time. He is known to drive a 2014 black Nissan Altima (4 door) with LA plate YQL 829.
