Arrests Made in the Murder of Nanette King.
From St Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office….
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Jack Strain announced this morning that investigators have arrested two men in connection with the murder of Nanette King.
Gary Lee Harris (81076 Father Francis Dr, Bush – DOB: 10/26/1961) has been arrested and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail with one count of L.R.S. 14:30.1 – second degree murder.
Ray Steven Harris (81583 Dad Penton Rd, Bush – DOB: 9/24/1951) has been arrested and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail with one count of accessory-after-the-fact to L.R.S. 14:30.1 – second degree murder.
Gary Lee Harris is Ms. King’s former boyfriend. Ray Steven Harris is Gary’s brother.
Detectives have been in contact with the Harris brothers since first receiving the missing persons complaint on King. During the first week of the investigation, detectives executed search warrants on Gary Harris’ property. In the weeks that followed, detectives spoke with the brothers on a number of occasions in an attempt to gain insight into Ms. King’s disappearance.
As the investigation progressed, evidence that was collected and inconsistencies in statements given by Gary Harris led detectives to narrow the scope of their investigation, focusing on the Harris brothers’ possible involvement in Ms. King’s disappearance.
Late Thursday (10/15/15), while speaking with investigators, Ray Harris admitted to his role and knowledge of the crime. Gary Harris has so far been uncooperative with investigators.
The investigation revealed information that led detectives to believe that on the afternoon of September 20, Nanette King met Gary Harris at his home in Bush, where she used to live with him. When she arrived there, he killed her at that location and later transported her body, and her vehicle, to the location where the car was found last week.
Ray Harris was arrested for his involvement in his brother’s actions after Ms. King’s murder.
Both men are being held in the St. Tammany Parish Jail. Gary Harris’ bond has been set at $800,000. Ray Harris’ bond has been set at $100,000.
