Parish Wants Local Neighborhoods to Decide When to Trick or Treat
See statement below from St Tammany Parish:
“St. Tammany Parish Government will not set the schedule for the custom of Trick or Treating. Halloween, October 31st, is not a government sponsored holiday, however a long standing tradition. We encourage neighborhoods and subdivisions to determine individually when they would like to conduct Halloween festivities.
The National Weather Service has predicted a chance of inclement weather for the evening of Saturday, October 31, which could hamper Halloween activities. Individual subdivisions in St. Tammany are free to decide when they would like to have their children go out to Trick or Treat.
As with Halloween every year, parents are encouraged to focus on safety when children are out in the streets at night. Please bring flashlights, wear something reflective and be mindful of any traffic”.
