Mandeville Police Chief to Retire
A Statement from Mayor Villere:
It is with great reluctance that I accepted the resignation of Mandeville Police Chief Rick Richard today, effective July 1, 2016.
Rick was hired by Interim Mayor Bubby Lyons and has served six years as Chief. He entered the position at a controversial time and moved the department ahead to positive change. Rick successfully implemented the elements of the Tridico Report and restructured the department to effectively utilize manpower by beginning a full time traffic division and increasing patrol on the street.
Chief Richard upgraded all police computer software and communications including data and equipment to patrol vehicles and integrated the paperless electronic court system. Rick’s experience and contacts gave Mandeville Police greater access to all law enforcement agencies and sustained our positive image statewide.
On behalf of the City, we wish him the best as he pursues retirement and personal time with family.
MAYOR DONALD J. VILLERE
